As a Maternity Nurse I arrive at your home at a point of your choice post birth and work around the clock for a specified number of days per week (4, 5, 6) to support you with your baby and to support the mother in her recovery from birth.

I can work for any number of weeks, established in advance, from 2 weeks up to 3 months or beyond, by arrangement.

My aim is to establish feeding, whether breast or bottle, exclusive breast milk, formula or a combination.

I will also work with the parents to implement gentle routines to establish a rhythm in your baby’s life and enable everyone to gain maximum sleep.

I will demonstrate all elements of care of your baby and leave you with the skills to be confident in meeting your baby’s constantly developing needs.

During my time I take over the night duties, feeding (bringing your baby to you for feeds if exclusively breast fed) and then settling them back to sleep. Unless there are medical or other unusual circumstances, your baby will be able to sleep from 7pm to 7am by around 3 months. This happens naturally (not forced) and within the capacity of the baby (depending on weight, nature and ability). Twins are able to do this too!

Some parents prefer to tackle the days on their own, without help but still want support in the night to get maximum sleep and recovery time.

As a Night Nanny, I support you with your baby for anything from 10 to 15 hours a night (covering bathtime, bedtime, breakfast and the school run). I will always make time for a debrief from your day, offering insight into, and solutions for any problem areas. I will keep parents fully informed with how the baby has been during the night, and what I have done to soothe and settle the baby, thus giving the parents the skills they need to replicate. I will also give guidance and coaching on how to engineer the day for the best rhythm for your baby, introducing gentle and evolving, manageable routines.

If a parent is experiencing a particular day time difficulty, I will offer to work a short maternity stint (or swap nights for days) in order to help you and your baby over a hurdle and on to a smoother working of your day. I will support parents over night for 4, 5 or 6 nights per week for a period of 2-14 weeks or more by arrangement.

As a Maternity Nurse, Night Nanny, Montessori Nanny and Parent Guide, I have worked with countless babies and infants and assisted parents with solutions to many situations, issues or problems.

Following an in-depth discussion, I offer solutions and help parents to formulate a plan to work through the issue. This can be a one-off coaching session or I can arrange a support package of my services to help implement or demonstrate the suggestions given.

Typical issues relate to sleep, food (whether bottle aversion, weaning or fussy eating), potty training, behaviour and development concerns. Some parents reach out because they are feeling completely overwhelmed by the needs of their child (whether at the newborn stage or any other age) and wanting some guidance to develop or extend their parenting skill-set. I will always point parents to medical or other professional advice if there seems to be a concern beyond my remit.

This is an emotive, divisive and misunderstood area but it doesn’t need to be.

Some babies, toddlers and children seem to struggle with night sleep, or go through a stage of disturbed sleep, for a variety of reasons. As a parent guide and sleep consultant, I offer an in-depth discussion with a full observation based assessment of the need. I will offer solutions and develop a bespoke package of my services to assist you to overcome the issue and to help the baby/infant/older child to sleep to the best of their capacity.

Mostly, a full night’s sleep is possible from 3 months, unless there are medical or other areas of developmental consideration. I always work with the child to develop a gentle and incremental strategy, supporting them towards independent sleep. I do not use the cruel or draconian approaches that give this valued and invaluable service a negative reputation. Sleep is a treasured gift for the whole family!

My background is in the Montessori Ethos. I trained in the Montessori approach because it best matched my own views, observations, intuitions and inclinations. I am observation led and intelligence driven, well versed in child development and highly experienced with children of all ages, particularly from birth and through the Early Years and primary age.

My aim is to help your children to develop independence (physical, emotional, social, intellectual) in all areas in accordance with their age and ability and within the context of their family lives. My mantra is fun, firm, fair and consistent with a bedrock of love and a huge dose of humour.

I am available for long or short-term engagements as a sole charge nanny, daily or over-night nanny or as a Proxy Parent, acting in loco parentis in your absence whether on business, holiday or other. I will work as a shared care nanny with parents who are recovering from an illness or operation or to establish a particular developmental transformation.

I have worked with children and their families for many years as a Maternity Nurse, Night Nanny, Montessori Nanny and Baby Consultant. I have brought to my work the communication skills I have learned through life and in business to thoroughly assess a situation and understand what the needs/lacks are.

I start with the positives and help to guide parents in their understanding of child development and how to meet the needs of their child/ren at any stage, assisting with their parenting skills and to suit their expectations to reality. I work through observation, verbal coaching and demonstration to assist you to the greatest enjoyment of your children and success in bringing up a rounded, grounded individual.

When parents travel on business, holiday or are absent for medical reasons I will look after your children, in loco parentis, as a trusted, experienced, mature and reliable Proxy Parent to maintain the household equilibrium and support your children in their normal routines and activities during your absence.
