About

Annie the Nannie:
A unique blend of childcare for the whole family from birth to teens.

“It quickly became apparent that she has a wonderful talent for working with children.”
“…the children adored her.”
“I cannot give enough praise for her professionalism and knowledge.  Annie is a valuable caregiver for any family with whom she works.”

Having grown up in England in a large family, I spent three years in New Zealand and built on my first-hand experience by assisting mothers of new born twins who also had older pre-school children.  Since then, I have worked with parents and children for over 30 years as a private nanny, a maternity nurse (including twins), a night nanny, a sleep trainer, a trouble-shooter, an adviser and coach for parents, as a childminder offering early years education, running small holiday programmes and craft clubs and much more.

My ethos is based on the Montessori principles of building independence and freedom within boundaries.  I would say that I am observation led and intelligence driven.  With a thorough understanding of the psychology under-pinning child development, I observe each child and family I work with, assess and devise a plan of action.

With the consultation work and the work with babies, I write extensive notes covering what I observe, what I have done and why.  The explanations enable parents to relax, gain control and, through understanding, be able to continue with confidence once I’ve gone.  My work draws on “the 3 I’s”:  intuition, instinct, intelligence.

My aim is not to make a “quick fix” for now but to put in place the secure foundations for the next stage of your child’s development.

I can truly say that I delight in every aspect of my work which, for me, is a genuine vocation.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping your children to thrive.

I would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Annie.  She unobtrusively settles into the house and gets on with dealing with the problem in a very capable manner.  At the same time she is good company and a pleasure to have around.  We missed her when she left, even after 5 short nights!

Dr S.H.

Her personal qualities that impress most when dealing with the children are her extensive patience, her respect for the child as an individual young person, her ability to stimulate play and study as well as maintain discipline, and the obvious warmth and enjoyment of the shared relationship which she communicates to the child.

After we spoke, I was instantly reassured by her positive, understanding approach and can-do attitude towards addressing the challenges….

What Annie achieved in her time with us only exceeded these high expectations….

What differentiates Annie…is not only her immense experience but also the sense that she really wants to do the right thing for the baby, the mother and the family in the long term, rather than providing quick-fixes.  It is clear that she sees each job as a chance to make a positive, lasting impact on a family….

She has a wealth of knowledge and experience with babies, as well as older children, and this, combined with her attitude is an amazing combination.  Her stamina is also unlike anything I have ever seen before – I am in awe!
